About Chama Jem

Chama is a Moroccan photographer and filmmaker whose journey spans Barcelona, Seoul, London, and Glasgow, now rooted in the vibrant streets of Casablanca.

Her love for photography began with her grandfather’s camera, sparking a lifelong fascination with capturing emotions. This is why Chama’s expertise lies in portraiture—each face tells a unique story, and she could spend hours analyzing the subtle shifts in expression. Her perspective is steeped in cinematic influences, with a particular love for close-up shots, and shaped by the rich tapestry of traditions and cultures she’s encountered while living across the globe.
Chama is drawn to the universal language of imagery —its ability to communicate beyond words, bridging gaps where spoken language falls short. Through her lens, she crafts intimate moments that resonate deeply, no matter the viewer’s background.

Her portfolio includes collaborations with Crack Magazine, La Vanguardia, Mujerhoy, Spotify, Partisan Records, Communion Records, Dr Martens, Live Nation, Transpose Magazine, Glastonbury Festival, Wide Awake Festival etc. Each project reflects her sensitivity to human connection and her belief in the power of images to tell stories worth holding onto.
